DEAR C.JAS

*Written by Omoya Yinka Simult*

This night, I forsake the warmth of my bed

And come out naked to pay due homage

To Mother Nature, the one whose beauty

Is embodied in your seraphic self.

This cold breeze that blows over my smooth skin,

Cuddling me, soothes my weary soul like balm.

The skies spread in patches of black and grey.

The stars are quite few but brilliant today,

Scanty, dotting the skies so randomly,

Like the stunning polka-dot gown you wore

The day you gently held my hand in yours,

As we walked along that fine street, giggling.

The commuters of the skies, birds and flies,

Have resigned from the madness of the day.

Now, the heavens seem calm and alluring,

Like your white crystalline eyes that draw me

Into pleasant ambience of love and peace.

Dear C. Jas, forlorn here I stand each night,

With lit hope candles on my heart’s altar,

That I might set my eyes on you again

And tell you those words you wanted to hear.
